Some people are optimistic about the 21st century. To what extent do you agree with their optimism?

Talking about 21st century, some people will have a picture of wars, disasters, diseases, pollutions, shortage of recourses while the other side of the picture will be the convenience brought by advanced technologies. They believe, even if we are faced with challenges sometimes, the future of the 21st century is promising. I am one of them.
The development of technology has made people’s life more convenient. For example, advanced telecommunication enables people to keep contact very easily in almost any corner in the world, which promotes understanding among people and nations. The globe has become more like a village. Additionally, the ever-increasingly sophisticated network of public transport has made traveling easier and cheaper.

Moreover, with better medicine and other medical technology in the 21 century, doctors have found solutions to some serious diseases. Besides, with better medical care, people have longer life expectancy in most countries. In addition, advance in machinery and biological science has made food production cheaper relieving poverty in the world.
Although there are problems of shortage of energy, pollution or extinction of animal species, I am confident that with people’s increased awareness and effort in saving energy, protecting the environment and preserving wild animals, these problems will be solved gradually and will not damage the future development.

To sum up, in spite of all the negative influences of the rapid development in the 21st century, I still think people benefit more from the advance in technology and it will still boost the world to develop toward a better future. In a word, I am very optimistic of the 21 century.
