3·学校技能

Living on campus benefits students not only academically but also psychologically and physically as well.

一．主语从句

强制的：It is imperative that

有争议的: whether…is an issue in debate.

我们是否成功取决于我们是否坚持

Whether we will succeed depends on whether we persist.

二．定语从句

l 主+谓， which（主）+谓

a. 父母能集中发展他们的事业，这将给孩子们带来更好的生活条件。

Parents can focus on their career, which brings better life conditions for their children.

b. 政府应鼓励大家乘坐公交车并且停车换乘，这将在很大程度上减轻交通方面的压力。

The government should encourage citizens to take public transportation and Park&Ride, which will relieve the pressure on traffic to a great extent.

l 介词+引导词， some of which, two of which, few of whom

a. 网络带来了很多实际的好处，其中两个值得大家注意

The Internet brings a number of benefits, two of which deserve everyone’s attention.

b. 我们已经采取了很多步骤去减轻交通方面的压力，很遗憾，这些之中有些无效。

We have taken a great many measures to relieve the pressure on traffic, pitifully, some of which are ineffective.

c. 很多人每天被广告包围，很少人想到它们的影响。

A great many people are surrounded by advertisements every day, few of whom consider their impacts.

三．状语从句

l So…that

a. 远程上班很节省时间，因此很多人更倾向于在家里工作。

Telecommuting saves so much time (is so less time-consuming) that a great many people tend to work at home.

b. 有些小孩总是沉迷上网，因此他们可能会忽视他们的学习。

Some children are so addicted to surfing the Internet that they may ignore their study.

四. 并列连词

l not only , but also , neither…nor… , both…and… , either…or…

a. 有些广告不仅很有想象力而且还很有意思，让人轻松，使人娱乐。

Some advertisements are not only imaginative but also amusing, which relax people’s minds and entertain them.

b. 我喜欢在大公司工作，因为这些工作不但提供更多的学习机会，而且还有舒适的工作环境和高工资。

I enjoy working at large companies, because the jobs not only provide more learning opportunities but also offer comfortable working conditions and satisfactory (decent) salaries.

c. 保留这些语言能够帮助促进沟通，消除误解，减少偏见，并且维护地区稳定。

Preserving these languages can help promote communication, remove misunderstanding, reduce prejudice and maintain regional stability.

d. 更多的国际经济交流能够降低企业成本，优化资源，为落后地区提供就业机会，并且能让消费者买到低价高质量的产品。

More international business trade can lower the costs of companies, optimize resources, provide employment opportunities for underdeveloped areas and enable consumers to buy good-quality and inexpensive products.

五· 展开结果

广告提供了关于产品的特征和功能的信息，因此能帮助消费者选择最适合自己的产品。

a. Advertisements provide information about the features and functions of products so that they can help consumers to select what suit them best.

b. 我们可以多和周围的朋友沟通，他们能够帮我们分析问题，并且提出解决方案，这会减轻我们的焦虑。

We can communicate more with our friends, who can help us analyze our problems and offer solutions, which will reduce our anxiety.

c. 死刑能威慑犯罪，降低犯罪率，因此，社会治安会得到保证，人们会觉得安全。

Capital punishment can deter crime and lower the crime rate, As a result, the social security will be ensured (guaranteed) and citizens will feel safe.
