Some people think students should be allowed to evaluate their teachers’ job performance. Others believe that will lead to lack of discipline and respect. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Brainstorm

Education plays an increasingly important role in one’s life. Teachers’ performance is especially crucial in this process, which can decide if students can successfully complete their education. Whether students should be allowed to evaluate their teachers is an issue in debate. In my view, this practice is beneficial for both students and teachers and thus should be supported.

Education plays an increasingly important role in one’s life. Teachers’ performance is especially crucial in this process, which can decide if students can successfully complete their education. Some people suggest that students should be allowed to evaluate their teachers, while others are concerned that this will cause disrespect and indiscipline. From my perspective, this practice brings more benefits than drawbacks and should be supported.

Teachers play an indispensable role in students’ education process. Therefore, some people suggest that students should be allowed to evaluate their teachers’ job performance to ensure the quality of teaching. However, others argue that this may cause disrespect and indiscipline. It is my personal belief that students should be permitted to do so.

例如可以加:to be specific, generally speaking, besides, moreover, as a result, consequently, therefore, however, nonetheless, for instance等等。

It is evident that allowing students to evaluate their teachers have positive effects on both students and teachers. Firstly, teachers can gain feedback from students about the strengths and weaknesses of their lectures. Based on this information, they can adjust their teaching plans and improve their lectures to satisfy the needs of students at different proficiency level. As a result, students can have better academic performance. Without such input, teachers may not realize their problems and may not be able to help students effectively. Also, positive feedback is encouragement and motivation for teachers. Secondly, students’ critical thinking and decision-making ability can also be nurtured/fostered/cultivated accordingly, which are essential in their future study and work. Students have to attend the lectures carefully before they can give accurate evaluation. In this way, they not only need to think critically but also make their own decisions about how the teachers perform.

However, it might also be noted that this practice may lead to loss of respect and discipline. If the evaluation is not well-managed, students may not give in their assessment responsibly. Some students even do not read the instructions and give comments mindlessly. Besides, students may give mean or unfair comments not because their teachers have poor performance but because they dislike schooling or the person instead. They regard the evaluation process as a chance to revenge their teachers. Nevertheless, these problems can be solved if the process is administered more strictly.

In summing up, although this practice may have potential drawbacks, it brings many benefits to both teachers and students. It improves teaching quality and students’ ability. Therefore, it is advisable to allow or even encourage students to assess teachers’ job performance.
